This Sunday, the 12th, is Mother's Day! Mother's day means something different to everyone. Some of us are mothers, soon to be moms, moms who have lost, foster moms, adoptive moms, step-moms, sisters/aunts/friends who have become mom, fur mamas, even wives who sometimes have to play mom from time to time, and celebrating the women in our lives who are no longer with us. Today can be about you. With every holiday comes more sewing!
One of the fun ways to celebrate Mother's Day is to do 'Mommy & Me' sets. This has been done in so many different ways! It's adorable and endearing. The time and work that goes into planning them, which fabrics to coordinate, which patterns to use, it all comes together to bring that glorious moment where you get to waltz around in your matching outfits together. Some of our favorite examples of it would be one of our customers, Gloria Walker, made her mom and fur baby these fabulous matching "mommy & me" sets!
We also love when we include our sons and daughters for matching outfits. One of our lovely admins Stephanie did that with her kiddos, and we couldn't love it more!
Not everyone is into matching outfits. But we all love sewing, I mean...you are reading a sewing blog. All the moms in our lives do so much. They deserve some love, and nothing is better than a handmade item from someone who loves them. Our lovely customer Rebecca Fackrell and her mom look marvelous together in their SSE shirts.
Mother's Day can also be about self care. Don't be afraid to sew for yourself, make something that makes you feel special. What's your favorite pattern that makes you feel incredible? What's a favorite fabric that you have been just waiting for it to speak to you on what it wants to be? Or maybe go buy yourself that new fabric you've been watching! Take care of you today.
