Feature Friday - Sonia Estep

Today we have the pleasure of speaking with Sonia Estep from Sonia Estep Designs!

How long have you been sewing?

I’ve been sewing garments for about 4 years.

What inspired you to start sewing?

I wanted a raglan shirt that I couldn’t find anywhere, somehow I fell down the pdf pattern world rabbit hole and the rest is history.

What was your biggest sewing mistake?

I don’t know about biggest but one I used to make often was not cutting sleeves mirrored.

Current favorite pattern?

My Iris Shorts pattern.

Current trend you love in fashion and want to copy.

I love rompers, and want to wear them ALL the time.

Favorite print from SSE?

Fiona is one of my favorites.

Something that still challenges you.

Buttons, only because my machine is so unpredictable.

A tip/trick you picked up.

Using Wonder Tape for everything.

A favorite tool?

Is Wonder Tape a tool? 🤣

Favorite fabric base and a fabric base you’d like to try more.

In the summers ITY is my favorite, and I love DBP for cooler weather. I’d like to use more wovens.
